Sunday School

Parents and children sit together in worship until the children are excused for Sunday School classes at 9:45 AM.

Nursery Room – Birth thru Toddlers. The Nursery is available every Sunday during worship for parents with infants and toddlers. The Nursery is adjacent to the Sanctuary so that adults can see and hear the worship service as infants rest or play.

Cool Kid’s Class Room 1 – 3 and 4 year-old Class.  Children hear Bible stories, play games, and learn about God’s love. Contact Sheryl Enock or Susanne Nagata for more information.

Explorer’s Room 3 – Kindergarten through 3rd Grade Class.  Children read and learn Bible stories, make art projects, play games, and learn about God’s love. Contact Janice Nishida Mayeda, Sharon Kinoshita-Gill, or Rev. Janet Cromwell for more information.

Trekker’s Room 2 – 4th through 8th Grade Class.   This is an opportunity for our younger youth to ask the tough questions in a safe environment.  The class includes Bible study, service projects and participating and assisting in worship.  Contact Sharon Kinoshita-Gill or Mike Dote for more information.

Youth Room (second floor) – 9th through 12th Grade Youth in Grades 9-12 meet in the Youth Room on the second floor. Together they learn life skills through studying scripture and class discussion. Contact Dave Cook for more information.

Family Worship – Parents, children and youth worship together on the first Sunday of each month in the Sanctuary.  Young children enjoy using “Activity Bags” that are filled with coloring pages, puzzles, and crayons during Family Worship. Sunday School classes are not held on Family Worship Sundays.

Christian Education & Family Ministries Team – This team of church leaders and teachers meets to plan educational program and fun activities for children, youth, and families.  The Team meets quarterly to plan for the new year.

Kizuna Discovery Camp – June 26-30, 2017.  Kizuna sponsors a cultural summer camp for elementary and middle school students that builds a foundation of Japanese American culture and heritage.  Please visit the Kizuna website or contact Paul Matsushima at  213-973-4465.  

Vacation Bible School – July 10-14, 2017. Reserve your space for this year’s VBS by contacting the church office at 310-479-1379 or Rev. Janet Cromwell.  Early Bird Registration ends on May 28!

 

A Special Message to Parents

Periodically Rev. Janet Cromwell sends an e-Newsletter to parents of our children and youth with updated information on activities and special events. If you would like to receive these periodic e-Newsletters, please contact Rev. Janet at 310-479-1379 ext 102.  She will gladly send you the latest information pertaining to Children’s and Youth Ministry!

Also, parents are asked to submit a Medical & Release Form for each of their children.  This form provides vital information for the church staff and volunteers in the case of an emergency. Contact the Church Office for forms, if needed.
