Japanese Film Night

Friday, May 26, 7:30 PM, Sanctuary. “The Old Bear Hunter” (“Matagi”) is the story of a legendary matagi who hunts in the snow covered Shirakami Mountains of northern Japan. Ko Nishimura (Akira Kurowawa’s favorite actor) gives his usual outstanding performance. Bring your friends and enjoy this special film!

Despite having won the Berlin Film Festival Award for Best Film and the Director’s Prize from the UNICEF Jury for Children’s Films at the 1982 Berlinale, this film remains one of the most difficult-to-find movie DVDs.

Japanese Film Night is free and open to the public.  Relaxed parking will be available on parts of Purdue and LaGrange for the event.
