Sunday, June 3, 10:30 AM.
West LA UMC celebrates its 88th Anniversary on Sunday, June 3, beginning with worship at 10:30 AM at the church.
WLAUMC welcomes all members and friends to remember the storied history of the church and look to the future under the theme, “For the Faith of the Children.”
The celebration will commence with a combined English and Japanese worship service at 10:30 AM with Bishop Grant Hagiya as the guest preacher. The choir will sing a special anthem and members 88 years and older will be recognized.
After the worship service, a group picture will be taken followed by a catered lunch in the church’s social hall.
The number 88 has a special significance in Japanese culture. The kanji character for 88, or beiju, suggests rice and celebration. It is a time to give thanks for the blessings of long life.
All are invited to attend the 88h Anniversary celebration at no cost. For more information, call the church office at 310-479-1379.
